SOLUTION
COVID-19 vaccines work by teaching the body’s immune system to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19. There are several types of COVID-19 vaccines, but most of them use a small piece of genetic material called messenger RNA (mRNA) to instruct cells in the body to produce a harmless protein that is unique to the virus. Once the immune system recognizes the protein as foreign, it creates antibodies to fight it, and “remembers” how to recognize and fight the virus in the future. The vaccine does not use live virus, so it cannot cause COVID-19.
