Chinese immigrants to the United States in the 19th and early 20th centuries were different from other immigrant groups in several ways.

One major difference was that they faced significant discrimination and racist laws, such as the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 which prohibited the immigration of Chinese laborers for over 60 years.

Another difference was that many Chinese immigrants were men who came to the US to work as laborers, while other immigrants tended to be families.
