Reliability and Validity – Reliability and validity are similar but also different, thus a measure can be reliable and not valid.  Job exit interviews have been found to be reliable but not valid.  Explain why exit interviews may not be valid.

Discussion Board Guidelines:  Explain answer in at least 250 words. Provide at least two academic sources (wiki sites and the course text are not acceptable)

SOLUTION

Reliability refers to the consistency of a measure, or the extent to which a measurement tool produces the same results each time it is used on the same population. For example, a scale that consistently produces the same weight reading would be considered reliable.

Validity refers to the extent to which a measure actually measures what it is supposed to measure. For example, a test designed to measure mathematical ability would be considered valid if it accurately measures mathematical ability and not something else.
