Hi Class,
Plea bargaining is an effective alternative process to not locking someone up for a minor offense. However, I do feel that more time should be placed on rather or not to offer a plea deal when it could ultimately cause a defendant a heard ship later or in their current life situations. In the article provided “Innocence Is Irrelevant”. When Emily Yoffe visited the courtrooms where the three prosecutors Todoran, Casey, and Greer making deals while reading through the police reports they were able to make decisions on rather give a plea deal in less than a minute.
These quick decisions for someone who needs to get back to work so they will not lose their job this is very important. Even if they’re innocent and choose not to fight the charges. Some are breadwinners in the home and unfortunately could be one paycheck away from being homeless.
Plea bargains allow a prosecutor, public defense attorney, and private attorney to spend less time on a case as they normally have a very huge case workload. They are also beneficial to the judge. With the acceptance of it produces less risk of a ruling being overturned on an appeal.

This suggests that plea bargaining is being conducted in a fast-paced and perhaps haphazard manner, without adequate consideration of the consequences for the defendants. It highlights the importance of ensuring that plea bargaining is conducted in a fair and just manner, taking into account the individual circumstances and potential impact on the defendants’ lives. This requires thorough review and evaluation of each case, rather than making decisions based on quick assessments of the evidence.
