Identify the differences between using the two different combinations of data backup techniques.
Assignment Directions: Briefly discuss the differences between using the two different combinations of data backup techniques. In a word document, discuss the assigned topic in approximately ten sentences.
SOLUTION
There are two main types of data backup techniques: full backup and incremental backup. The difference between the two lies in the amount of data backed up and the frequency at which they are performed.
Full backup: This method involves backing up all the data in a system or storage device. This backup is typically performed on a weekly or monthly basis and is considered a comprehensive backup, as it includes all data in the system.
Incremental backup: This method involves backing up only the data that has changed since the last backup. This backup is typically performed on a daily basis and is considered a more efficient way of backing up data, as it only includes the changes made to the data.
When using a combination of full backup and incremental backup, a full backup is performed periodically (e.g. once a week) and incremental backups are performed daily in between the full backups. This allows for a balance between the efficiency of incremental backups and the comprehensiveness of full backups.
Another combination of backup techniques is a differential backup, which is similar to incremental backup but it only backs up the data that has changed since the last full backup.
