Reflection:
Throughout my practicum experience, I have developed a deeper understanding of the competencies required of a population-focused nurse practitioner. I have also had the opportunity to apply these competencies in a real-world setting, working with patients from a variety of backgrounds and presenting with diverse health needs.
One of my strengths is my ability to establish rapport with patients, making them feel comfortable and heard. This has helped me to gather comprehensive patient histories and conduct thorough physical exams. I have also noticed improvements in my ability to diagnose and manage common health conditions, as well as my skills in prescribing medications and developing treatment plans.
However, there are also areas for improvement. For instance, I have struggled at times with time management and prioritizing tasks effectively, leading to longer patient wait times. I also need to improve my delegation skills and work more effectively with the interprofessional team.
In conclusion, my practicum experience has been a valuable learning opportunity that has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally. I will carry forward my newfound knowledge and skills into my next practicum, and work towards addressing my areas of improvement.
