The most personally useful thing I learned in this course is the importance of self-reflection and self-awareness. Critical thinking requires self-awareness of our own biases, assumptions, and limitations, and being able to reflect on our own thinking processes can help us improve our reasoning skills.

One topic I initially struggled with was therapeutical questions. However, through the course, I learned that therapeutical questions are open-ended and non-judgmental, and they can help patients explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe and supportive environment.

As a future nurse, I learned that self-confidence is essential in providing quality patient care. By being confident in our knowledge and skills, we can effectively communicate with patients, collaborate with colleagues, and advocate for our patients’ needs.

For my peers struggling with therapeutical questions, I suggest practicing active listening and using open-ended questions to encourage patients to express their thoughts and emotions. Additionally, it may be helpful to review the principles of motivational interviewing, which can also be useful in therapeutic conversations. For those struggling with self-confidence, I recommend seeking feedback from colleagues and mentors, practicing self-reflection and mindfulness, and setting achievable goals to build self-confidence gradually.
