Subjective Data:
Ask the patient about any ear-related symptoms such as:
- Pain in the ears
- Itching or irritation in the ears
- Difficulty hearing
- Ringing or buzzing sounds in the ears
- Ear discharge
- History of ear infections or other ear problems
Objective Data:
- Inspect the external ear for any deformities, swelling, or redness.
- Assess the ear canal for any signs of infection, blockage, or excessive earwax buildup.
- Test hearing using a tuning fork or audiometer.
- Palpate the area around the ears for any tenderness or discomfort.
Documentation:
Upon examination of the patient’s ears, no deformities, swelling, or redness were observed in the external ear. The ear canal appeared to be clear with no signs of blockage or infection. Using a tuning fork, the patient’s hearing was within normal limits. No tenderness or discomfort were detected upon palpation of the area around the ears. The patient reported no current ear-related symptoms but had a history of recurring ear infections in childhood.
