Think back to your research question used in modules 4 and 5 (or come up with a new research question). Describe an ANOVA that could be used to analyze the research question. Include the type of research design and describe the variables (factor or independent and response or dependent) that would be used.
Post your initial response to the discussion question no later than Thursday 11:59 PM EST/EDT. You will not be able to see any of your classmates’ posts until you have posted your initial response.
Respond to at least two of your classmates no later than Sunday 11:59 PM EST/EDT.
SOLUTION
growth of tomato plants?
Research Design: This study would use a randomized complete block design, with the type of fertilizer (organic vs. inorganic) as the independent variable and the growth of the tomato plants as the dependent variable. The study would randomly assign tomato plants to either the organic or inorganic fertilizer treatment groups, and then measure their growth at the end of the growing period.
ANOVA Analysis: A one-way ANOVA could be used to analyze the data from this study. The factor or independent variable in this study is the type of fertilizer used (organic vs. inorganic), while the response or dependent variable is the growth of the tomato plants. The ANOVA would test the null hypothesis that there is no difference in the mean growth of tomato plants between the two fertilizer treatments, against the alternative hypothesis that there is a significant difference in mean growth between the treatments. The resulting F-value and p-value would indicate whether the null hypothesis can be rejected, and if so, which fertilizer treatment produced significantly higher growth in the tomato plants.
