SOLUTION

After some research, I have found two public safety agencies that make effective use of data visualization: the New York Police Department (NYPD) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Here are four examples of data visualization from each agency:

1. NYPD’s CompStat Dashboard: This dashboard allows users to view crime statistics for specific neighborhoods in New York City. The dashboard includes maps, graphs, and charts that visualize crime trends over time. The dashboard is regularly updated with new data and is accessible to the public. This dashboard is an excellent example of data visualization in public safety because it is clear, concise, and easy to understand. The dashboard provides users with the information they need to make informed decisions about their safety and the safety of their community.
2. NYPD’s ShotSpotter Dashboard: This dashboard displays the locations of gunshots detected by the NYPD’s ShotSpotter system. The dashboard includes a map that highlights the locations of recent gunshots and provides users with details about each incident. The dashboard also includes graphs and charts that show trends in gun violence over time. This dashboard is an excellent example of data visualization in public safety because it provides real-time information about gun violence in New York City. The dashboard is easy to use and provides users with the information they need to stay informed about gun violence in their community.
3. NFPA’s Fire Loss Clock: This data visualization displays the estimated number of fires, deaths, and property damage caused by fires in the United States. The visualization is presented as a clock, with each hand representing a different statistic. The clock is updated in real-time and is easily accessible to the public. This data visualization is an excellent example of data visualization in public safety because it presents complex data in a simple and easy-to-understand way. The clock provides users with a quick overview of the impact of fires in the United States and allows them to make informed decisions about fire safety.
4. NFPA’s Wildfire Risk Map: This data visualization displays the areas of the United States that are at risk of wildfires.
