Modern architecture in the Americas has played a significant role in the liberation from colonialism and the dependence on imported ideas and values by breaking free from traditional designs and incorporating local materials, techniques, and social concerns. Through their works, modern architects aimed to create new architectural languages that reflected the values and aspirations of their societies, challenged the status quo, and contributed to the cultural identity of their nations. In this essay, I will discuss three works of modern architecture from different periods in the Americas that have played a role in the liberation from colonialism and dependence on imported ideas and values.
