Research Design (20 points)

Research design Definition and Description (10 points/1 paragraph)

What is the research design used in your resource? Explain the design (search (e.g., textbook, course module resources, Sage database, etc.), read the definition of the design, then explain it and cite the resource you used to understand it).

The design is not to be guessed (the specific design should be noted in your chosen article by the authors).

Provide at least one Full (MEAL) Scholarly Paragraph. Your Evidence Should be Related to the definition of your study’s specific design (thus, Evidence should include at least 2 resources, including your quantitative article and the resource you reviewed to understand the research design used).

Appropriateness of the Research Design (10 points/2 paragraph)

How appropriate was the design used in the study to obtain the needed data? Explain why.

Describe in your own words the objectives, questions, and/or hypotheses for the study?

• MEAL tool is used consistently to structure scholarly paragraphs.

• Title page and Reference page included and in APA.

• Ensure that all headings in your paper are exactly as they appear in this

rubric (including points); all questions under each heading must be addressed.

• PICOT research question (included in this paper appendix).

• Your chosen article is relevant to your PICOT and is primary research study

(please review the definitions of primary and secondary research).

• Number each page.

• Use Times New Roman (12 font size) typeface.

• Double space with 1-inch margins on all sides.

• Indent the first line of every paragraph with 5 spaces.

• Check to be sure that the paper is free of grammatical and spelling errors.

Research Design Definition and Description:

In this section, you need to identify the specific research design used in the study, explain its definition, and provide a brief description of how it was used. You should cite at least two sources, one of which is the article you are critiquing, and the other is a source that you used to understand the design. Appropriateness of the Research Design: In this section, you need to evaluate the appropriateness of the research design used in the study to obtain the needed data. You should explain why you believe the design was appropriate or not appropriate. You should also provide evidence from the literature to support your argument. In addition, you need to address whether the design provides a means to examine all of the objectives, questions, or hypotheses. You should give a rationale for your response and explain how the design allows the researchers to answer their research question. Again, you should provide evidence from the literature to support your argument.
