SOLUTION
Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development suggests that identity formation is a critical task during adolescence and young adulthood. According to Erikson, individuals in this stage are in the identity vs. role confusion stage, which involves exploring and understanding one’s identity. Marcia’s identity statuses model further expands on Erikson’s theory and identifies four identity statuses: identity diffusion, foreclosure, moratorium, and achievement.
