Purpose: Students will work independently and research a type of cancer in order to
connect their learning to real world issues. They will each create a PowerPoint or Slides
Presentation as the final product. This project will serve as a “summative” assessment and
is worth 80 points.
Guidelines for PowerPoint/Slides Project:
Students must include the following information on their Presentations:
a. Name of Cancer
b. Description of how the cancer affects the body/ specific organ
c. Inheritance of the cancer (how does one get this Cancer? Is it genetic? Etc.)
d. Symptoms of the Cancer
e. MOST EFFECTIVE form of treatment(s) and the symptoms that follow
f. Statistics of Survival and Death Rates for this type of cancer
g. Group of people most affected by this cancer (males/females, old/young,
certain races/ethnicities, etc)
h. One famous person affected by this type of cancer
