Define/identify a problem that you or a family may have encountered with seeking care from either access, quality, or cost perspectives. Frame your response in relation to Donabedian’s structure, process, and outcome model.

Your initial post should be at least 300-500 words in length using complete sentences, proper syntax, spelling, and grammar, and formatted in the current APA style.

Solution:

In Donabedian’s structure, process, and outcome model, structure refers to the physical and organizational characteristics of a healthcare facility or system, process refers to the specific actions and decisions taken to provide care, and outcome refers to the results of that care in terms of patient health and satisfaction.

One problem that a family may have encountered with seeking care from the perspective of access is long wait times to schedule appointments with specialists. This can be framed in relation to Donabedian’s model as a problem with the process of scheduling appointments. The structure of the healthcare system may be insufficient to meet demand for certain specialists, leading to a backlog of patients seeking appointments.
